This was the fourth year my dad's side of the family [30+ people] has gotten together for my grandmother's birthday over Memorial Day weekend in Fort Walton Beach, FL [one of my favorite places on earth]. It is something I am excited about each time it rolls around. This year was the second year Dan couldn't make it due to his job. Last year I loved being with my family but was bummed that Dan wasn't there. This year, my old pal Kim [from my NY days] was able to come with me since she had just graduated from college. We made the trip with my brother and his family -- a total of four adults and a toddler -- and drove through the night and arrived at 8 AM in Florida.
For my sweet 16, (almost 10 years ago!) my mom took me, Kim and three of my other friends on a trip to Fort Walton. It was fun to reminisce about some funny stories we had while we were there. Kim was a good sport and by the end of the trip she was just another member of the family!

We spent all day each day on the beach and pool just hanging out with family. We usually took a break for lunch and went up to the condo to eat left-overs from the night before. It was so nice and relaxing and the water there is as clear as pool water.
